Autumn 1

In English, we have been studying ‘Shackleton’s Journey’. We have developed our knowledge of the expedition that Shackleton endured and used this as inspiration to write our own endurance narratives.

During our Art Lessons, we have explored the technique of pointillism through the work of George Seurat. We practiced representing objects through pointillism – tiny dots of various pure colour which then become blended by the human eye through the science of optics.  We will be combining this with what we have learnt about Mayan folk art and patterns to create a final piece.

We have learnt a new mathematical concept – long division! We are becoming more confident in using and articulating the method out loud and have used this to support us in answering word problems.
